Dave Doughty expressed a love of music early on his life.  With one of tune of the widest music collections of all of his school friends, there was always something that inspired him easily in a song / tune.

During his school days Dave took an interest in the Drum and Bass scene, and after leaving school he went to college to study Music Technology. It was on this course that Dave learned the method behind Djing, mastered reading drum maps and used sequencing programs such as Cubase and Fruity Loops.

He also bought his first set of decks and learned how to DJ.

Dave continued his love for Drum and Bass music and hosted his own Drum and Bass night at  the Millennium Bar II in Margate. During his course, his college friends were getting into the Garage sounds. With a lot of the classic drum and bass being remixed in a garage style, Dave Doughty took notice, and for 15 months ran a weekly Garage night at the Millennium Bar II called “PASSION” and his brand Phat Bwoy Promotions.

Late 2000 saw Phat Bwoy promotions disbanded after the venue where they hosted their nights closed.

In mid 2001 a group of Dave's friends decided to go on a lads holiday to Ibiza.  A member of this group pulled out and Dave was asked if he wanted to join them.

September 2001 was when Dave was introduced to Ibiza and House Music.  Dave fell in love with the sound that he heard, the atmosphere, the clubs and the most beautiful surroundings in the world.

This is where Dave became so inspired that his thoughts and life revolved around the Ibiza scene. Reading any articles on Ibiza and buying all the compilations that came from this Infamous island, Dave hung his head phones up from the Garage and Drum and Bass he was used to, and was on a strict schedule of listening to House music from then on in.

After several visits to the island, Dave introduced his friend and clubbing partner Tom Keys to Ibiza.  Similar to Dave, Tom fell in love with the island and its music. Little did he know that this was the beginning of the great partnership to which we know now.

After returning from this holiday, Dave and Tom went to nights such as NastyDirtySexMusic and Size records where they fell in love with this new house sound people were calling Tech house.  After several visits to multiple London venues, they were sick of traveling to London to hear the sound they loved. Tom got himself a set of decks and Dave dusted down the headphones.  At this time the Electro house scene was starting to grow and HowCleanIsYourHouse was born.

Dave a versatile DJ, mainly plays Electro House but can turn his talents to a darker side, playing Tech House, Prog and even breaks / Techno.

Dave still really enjoys his annual tip to Ibiza and you can hear the influences in the music that he plays. Recently turning his hand to producing, Dave has made 2 tunes “The Strut” and” Monster”. Dave is looking at producing some new tunes in the very near future and these will be exclusive to HCIYH.CO.UK.
